This PAX A Series Quick Reference Guide will help you with step-by-step instructions for basic setup and functions.

The PAX A Series is a new generation of terminals that function as a countertop device, packed with the latest PCI PTS 5.x and NFC contactless certifications and powered by the Android 6.0 operating system.

With a full range of communication options to choose from, including Wi-Fi, Dial and Ethernet, and an optional back-up battery, the PAX A Series terminals are always connected, ensuring peak performance during business hours.

PAX A Series terminals have a built-in camera and come with a stunning high-definition touchscreen display which offers merchants and customers alike a graphical user interface way superior to traditional POS terminals.


INITIAL SETUP & TERMINAL SETTINGS

  1. To exit this screen, press the TOP LEFT-HAND CORNER and the BOTTOM RIGHT-HAND CORNER of the screen at the same time.
  2. Once on the Android home screen press the SETTINGS icon.
  3. The settings password is pax9876@@.
  4. Once in the settings menu scroll down to select the setting to update.

SETTING DATE & TIME

  1. From the Settings Menu choose the option for SYSTEM and choose the option for DATE & TIME to set and edit the time zone.
  2. Flag OFF the automatic time zone setting.
  3. Choose SELECT TIME ZONE option to configure the merchant’s time zone.
  4. Scroll to find the appropriate TIME ZONE for the merchant.

SETTING WI-FI CONNECTION

  1. From the Settings menu choose the NETWORK & INTERNET option to set up the Wi-Fi.
  2. Choose the option for WI-FI.
  3. Make sure to toggle the Wi-Fi setting to on to choose the network to connect to.

SETTING ETHERNET (A80 ONLY)

  1. Choose the ETHERNET OPTION to set the Ethernet setup.
  2. Turn the ETHERNET OPTION ON.

BATTERY CHARGING BEST PRACTICES (A920 ONLY)

Below are some best practices for charging a lithium-ion battery.

  1. Lithium-ion batteries operate best when they are charged off and on throughout the day. Try to charge your device in bursts from approximately 40% up to approximately 80% at a time. Limit the number of times that you charge your device to 100% or let the battery drop down to 0%.
  2. Charging time should not exceed 24 hours.
  3. If the device will be stored for a long period of time without use, charge the battery once per 6 months.

REBOOTING THE DEVICE

  1. Hold down the POWER BUTTON on the right side of the device.
  2. Press the option for RESTART.
  3. Press RESTART on the screen to confirm the reboot of the device.
